Corrective Therapy vs. Sports Massage: What’s the Difference?
Is your therapy "Relaxing" or "Restoring"?
Many visitors to Lanzarote book a massage to feel better for an hour. While a standard sports massage is excellent for moving blood through the muscles, it often ignores the underlying structure that governs how those muscles move.
At Ela’s House of Therapies, we provide Corrective Therapy. We don't just work on the "engine" (your muscles); we realign the "chassis" (your skeletal system).
The 3 Key Differences
Gait & Alignment Assessment
Standard Massage: You lay on the table and the therapist begins.
Corrective Therapy: Every session starts with a visual assessment of your posture, gait, and joint mobility to see why your muscles are tight in the first place.
Bone-Setting vs. Muscle Rubbing
Standard Massage: Focuses on soft tissue only.
Corrective Therapy: Uses Myoskeletal Alignment to address the ligaments and joints. If a bone is "stuck," the muscle attached to it will stay tight no matter how much you rub it.
Clinical Reflexology Integration
Standard Massage: Uses general oil-based strokes.
Corrective Therapy: Uses Clinical Reflexology to "talk" to the central nervous system, signaling the body to stop guarding the injury so deep corrective work can actually take hold.
Who is this for?
If you want to sleep better tonight, a massage is fine. If you want to walk without pain, increase your range of motion, and fix a recurring injury, you need Corrective Therapy.
